How it works

Bedside positioning

BEPI is placed at the bedside of the patient selected by the healthcare professional for safe self-administration of medication. This system reduces manual intervention by healthcare staff, minimizes the risk of error and ensures easy access to medication for the patient.

Programming

BEPI is configured by importing medical prescriptions from the patient’s electronic medical record or via a dedicated tablet. Scheduling allows times and doses to be easily set to ensure correct and timely administration of medication.

Integration

The system can be integrated with electronic medical records used in healthcare facilities, allowing centralized and automated management of therapies, eliminating the need for manual entry and reducing the risk of transcription errors.

Automated dosing

At the scheduled time, BEPI automatically delivers the prescribed dose and alerts the patient with light and sound signals. This ensures safe and timely administration, eliminating errors and delays.

Continuous monitoring and alarm management

BEPI continuously monitors the administration process, from dispensing to patient confirmation. In the event of an error or failure to take the medication, an immediate alert is sent to healthcare staff for timely intervention.

Therapy on-demand

BEPI enables patients to request medication, such as painkillers, on demand via a wristband. The system ensures that medication is administered within the limits prescribed by medical staff, preventing overdoses and ensuring safe therapy control.

Cloud management

Fully cloud-managed, BEPI enables real-time updates to therapies, allowing nurses to change prescriptions quickly and without delay via tablets or nursing stations.

Drug reuse

Every medicine is tracked in the system, including batch and expiry date. Unused medication can be monitored and safely reused, reducing waste and optimizing stock management.

Device security

Alarm management

BEPI immediately alerts healthcare staff to malfunctions such as non-delivery or technical problems, ensuring rapid intervention to avoid disruption to medication administration.

R

Reliability testing

BEPI has undergone rigorous reliability testing, including FMEA analysis, and has been validated in collaboration with the University of Genoa to ensure its stability and safety in complex clinical environments.

Cybersecurity

BEPI complies with the latest data protection regulations, ensuring a high level of IT security to protect sensitive patient information.

Disinfection

To ensure maximum hygiene, drugs are dispensed in sealed blisters, reducing the risk of contamination and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene for patient safety.
